Archives hold stories - Ways we can reflect on the past so we can consider new futures.

The Explore archive is amazing. Really amazing. We’re very grateful to have had access to it in the creation of this project.

The images you see here are taken from the archive. I’ve used tracing to make an animated drawing of different views and eras of Coney Street. The time I spent tracing over the images, people, places, signs and architecture provided space to think about over-looked details, overlapping and interweaving pasts, presents and potential futures.

Coney Street has been the centre of so many shifts in landscape and use.

What can
you see in the present that’s from the past?

We met with people in the Explore hubs to ask:

What do you love most about Coney Street?

What’s been lost?

What was most useful?

What would you bring back?

How could Coney Street be a place for every body?
